In December 2020, I was honoured to be part of Radio 1's Christmas Presenter line up. I applied in September 2020 and I had no idea that I would off been chosen. This is hands down the biggest moment of my career (and life!).

1,100 people applied to be a Christmas Presenter and 33 presenters were chosen to be part of the line up and I was one of them! I flew over in November to do a pilot show in ONE day due to COVID19 so I didn't have to self isolate on my return. I went to Broadcasting House in London. It was such a whirlwind of a day and surreal to say the least. I met Greg James, Scott Mills and Chris Stark in ONE day & I seriously had to pinch myself that I was stood in Radio 1.
I got a phone call late November from Aled (Head of Radio 1) whilst I was shopping in the Co-Op before my show at 6pm. He offered me two Radio 1 Anthems shows on Monday 28th December and Tuesday 29th December. I obviously jumped at the opportunity and said yes straight away. I had to keep this all a secret until 3rd December.
The press release day was a whirlwind. My phone has never had so many notifications before. The amount of love and support from everyone was overwhelming. I did a few interviews with the local media (which I will post as separate blog posts so I can include listen links). I celebrated with my family and pinched myself many times to convince myself I wasn't dreaming.

I flew out to Radio 1 for my two shows on Sunday 27th December. My morning flight was cancelled so I was booked onto the evening flight which means I missed my desk test at Radio 1 (it was supposed to be at 4pm on Sunday). I did the two shows and was over the moon with how it went. Grace Hopper was my producer (I've never had a producer before!) and she was a dream to work with. I tried my hardest to be myself and not be influenced by other presenters.
It was THE best time of my life and would do anything to relive it again (even the 10 days isolation when I got back!). Dreams can come true.
You can listen back to my two shows on Radio 1 on BBC Sounds. I have linked the two shows on the homepage under 'Have a Listen'.
